01Explain the choicesDo we have a current picture of the investment solutions actually used, including legacy arrangements and exceptions?Can we explain the intended client needs and the business purpose served by each part of the proposition?Where do options overlap, and have we established whether their differences are useful or simply unclear?

02Understand delivery and oversightIs responsibility clear for approving the available options, reviewing them and agreeing exceptions?Do we understand the administration, training, communications and oversight required to support each option?Can advisers and relevant colleagues explain the proposition consistently, including where they should seek further guidance?

03Plan any further reviewWhich uncertainties need better evidence or specialist assessment before a business decision can be made?Have we separated decisions about the future proposition from any assessment of changes affecting existing clients?Can we name the next decision, its owner and the information required, without assuming that simplification means moving client assets?
