Help advice firms see where your offer fits.

Your proposition needs to make sense in the daily work of the firms you want to serve. Allington brings a practitioner perspective to the commercial choices, investment questions and operational barriers that influence whether an offer is understood and adopted.

Recognise the challenge?

When a fresh perspective
can make a difference.

01

The offer is clear internally, but harder to explain externally.

Features and capabilities have expanded, while the reason for an advice firm to choose you has become less distinct. You need a clearer connection between the offer and the buyer’s priorities.

02

Interest is not translating into everyday use.

Promising conversations are followed by slow onboarding or inconsistent adoption. You want to examine the practical work required of advisers and support teams, and where friction may be getting in the way.

03

The roadmap has more priorities than capacity.

Commercial requests, product ideas and service improvements are competing for attention. You need a structured way to test assumptions and decide which changes deserve investment first.

Where we can help

Support for the decisions
behind your business.

Work can examine the whole offer or a specific commercial, investment or operational question. The same six service areas are available, applied to your product and the firms it serves.

01

Make the proposition more precise

Define the firms you are best placed to serve, the problem you solve and the commercial case for choosing you. Review positioning, pricing and priorities against those choices.

02

Address the investment questions buyers ask

For investment providers, review proposition architecture and the explanation behind it. For platforms and technology businesses, consider how the offer supports adviser research, investment selection and ongoing oversight.

03

Understand the work adoption requires

Map the journey from initial decision through onboarding and ongoing use. Examine responsibilities, information requests and handovers between your business, the advice firm and other providers.

04

Assess acquisitions and integration choices

Review how a target’s proposition, customer base and operating model fit the business. Identify integration decisions across service, investment capability and systems, alongside your other transaction advisers.

05

Connect the roadmap to customer needs

Translate adviser workflows into business requirements and prioritisation criteria. Assess data, reporting and AI opportunities in context, with technical development and integration handled by the appropriate delivery teams.

06

Improve ownership of commercial change

Clarify who decides and who delivers across product, sales, service and leadership. Add a practitioner perspective to important decisions and define senior support where internal capacity is stretched.

Work you can put to use

A decision.
A plan.
A way forward.

We agree the outputs before work begins. Depending on your priority, an engagement could deliver:

  • A proposition assessment with clearer target firms, buyer needs and commercial priorities.
  • An adoption journey identifying customer effort, handovers and potential points of friction.
  • A prioritised requirements brief connecting product and service improvements to adviser workflows.
  • A decision and delivery plan with named responsibilities and assumptions to validate.

A practical starting point

Start with the adoption question you need to resolve.

Start with a proposition question, an adoption concern or a roadmap choice. An initial conversation can distinguish what is already known from the assumptions that need testing, and establish a useful scope.

Discuss a first step

An initial conversation is without obligation. Scope, timing and fees are agreed before any work begins.

What a focused review might explore

  • The firms you want to serve and the problem your offer addresses.
  • Existing customer feedback and examples of adoption challenges.
  • The commercial or product decision you need to make.

The intended output

An agreed engagement could provide a clearer view of the barriers, a set of options and a prioritised plan for improvement.

Meet the practice

Before we get started

Questions you
may be considering.

Is this relevant if we provide technology rather than investments?

Yes. The emphasis can be on proposition, adviser workflows, business requirements and adoption. Investment consulting is available where it informs your offer; there is no requirement to use every service area.

Will you build the software or run our marketing?

The core role is consulting on business needs, proposition, priorities and delivery oversight. Technical implementation and wider marketing execution are scoped with the relevant specialists, using a clearer brief and agreed responsibilities.

Can practitioner input replace customer research?

It should inform your decisions alongside customer evidence. The work can review existing feedback, identify assumptions and help define what needs validation with your target firms. Any additional research is agreed as part of the scope.
